Successful opening
After a successful start of "Musica Sacra International" at Whitsun, where more than 2000 viewers followed the festival online and worldwide, MODfestivals is now preparing for the next concert weekend at the end of July. Due to the pandemic, the festival will for the first time combine events live on site and online from May to October under the motto "Our Earth". Thus, in addition, concert weekends with evening concerts, ateliers, lectures, discussions and prayers will take place at various locations on three weekends in July, August and October.
Concerts in Altenstadt and Kaufbeuren
The concert weekends will kick off on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 8 p.m. with a concert with spectators in St. Michael Altenstadt and on August 01, 2021, in the Dreifaltigkeitskirche Kaufbeuren, which can be viewed worldwide via livestream online.
The Group Anubhab (India/Germany) will perform on Hinduism, Ars Choralis Coeln (Germany) on Christianity and the Ensemble Spinario (Austria/Germany) on Animism. A special feature is a composition by Rupert Huber on holly, specially commissioned for MSI 2021, which will be premiered that weekend.
A roundtable discussion on "Music in Interreligious Encounters - Practical Experiences and Insights" as well as a concert compilation of the 1992 festival beginnings will be available online on the festival website starting July 31.
Ateliers worldwide on the web
Already in the afternoon before the concert, an atelier with Ars Choralis Coeln, the Group Anubhab and the Ensemble Spinario will take place live in the Dreifaltigkeitskirche Kaufbeuren. The approximately one-hour workshops can be followed online at www.musica-sacra-international.org and provide insights into the music of the various world religions. The content of the respective music and religion is conveyed, as well as background knowledge about the country of origin and culture.
Virtual festival site
The hub for all digital offerings is the virtual festival site, which was developed especially for this year's festival by the agency MyDsgn. The website creates an intuitive connection to the events on site via images of the central festival locations in Marktoberdorf. Here you can also check out the opening on Whitsun with concerts, discussions and ateliers.
