Rezonans
Founded in 2010 by Burak Onur Erdem, Rezonans has become one of the prominent choirs of Turkey within a few seasons. The choir performs regularly in leading choral festivals of Europe and sings under the baton of world-renowned conductors.
The choir has worked with Grammy© award winning composer Eric Whitacre, Nigel Short – former member of the famous British a capella ensemble The King’s Singers, Jo-Micheal Scheibe – former president of American Choral Directors Association, Volker Hempfling – among the most important living conductors of Germany and Georg Grün – also one of the esteemed conductors of Germany.
Rezonans has been selected Turkey’s Choir of the Year by the Donizetti Classical Music Awards in 2017 and won the third prize in Monographic Category of Arezzo Choral Competition within European Grand Prix the same year, also performing at the opening concert of Fano Choral Festival.
Rezonans was awarded the Internationally Very Good Choir certificate in the International Choral Competition Marktoberdorf. The choir represented Turkey in Europa Cantat Festival 2015 and sang Turkish Folk music with 5.000 participants in Hungary. They were also the first Turkish choir to take part in the renowned Cork International Fleischmann Trophy and won the second prize in 2016. In 2018, the choir attended The International May Choir Competition in Varna and won “The Best Young Conductor” prize, following which they gave acclaimed concerts in the Europa Cantat Festival in Tallinn.
The choir performed two concerts conducted by the renowned German conductor Frieder Bernius in 2021, with a unique repertoire of baroque and romantic period music and traditional Turkish music. Rezonans also performed in various venues during the WSCM 2023 held in Istanbul, Türkiye as well as being one of the two main participating choirs for the conducting masterclass led by Ragnar Rasmussen as a part of this major choir event of the world. The choir is known for their attention to musical quality, rehearsal intensity and dedication to uniqueness and diversity in their repertoire, which specialises on contemporary Turkish choral music as well as highly regarding universal pieces on baroque, romantic and contemporary genres.
