Musica Sacra International Festival Choir
29th May - 2nd June 2020
For more than 25 years, Musica Sacra International has been bringing together singers and musicians from different cultures and religions in Marktoberdorf and in the Allgäu region.
As in previous years, we are once more encouraging all enthusiastic singers to actively participate in Musica Sacra International as a singer in the festival choir. The choir will be conducted by Gary Graden, director for choral music at the Cathedral and Jacob’s Church in Stockholm, and will be supported by a choir from one of the participating ensembles. Over the period of four days the singers will rehearse works from different religious backgrounds. The choir will perform the rehearsed programme at the final concert of the festival.
Furthermore, all participants of the festival choir will be given the opportunity to engage in the additional programme of the festival without further costs. This consists of studios, where ensembles from around the world present their music and rehearse it with visitors in form of singing examples. There will furthermore be church services arranged by musicians, as well as spiritual walks and discussion panels. The aim is to convey the subject matter of each religion to people with the help of music and to discuss it with them.
Needless to say, everyone is very welcome to go to the various concerts in the evenings and to celebrate with the ensembles in the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf.
The Festival Choir will be organised in cooperation with the Chorverband Bayerisch-Schwaben.
